Last post on this race, I promise.
I just got the results. The winner of this race did it in a blazing 5:31!! That’s around a 6:40 pace which is what I can do in a 5K. Ridiculous. It turns out I finished 16th out of 74 finishers with an “official” time [...]

Continued from part 2
Joggling Lap 3
Within the first 2 miles of the third lap, I thought I’d passed the girl in green. Her biking friends were stopped at a bathroom and I just assumed she was in there. But Kikta pointed her out up ahead. Damn, she’s good.
And speaking of good, [...]

Joggling Lap 2
Just after lap 2 started, we picked up another bike spotter, John Kelly. He stayed with us the entire way after that. He also witnessed drop number 2 which happened 2:50 into the race. I don’t know why it happened. My right hand was in [...]

For a juggler, perfection is always the goal. No drops, no stops. On Saturday, a gust of wind stymied juggling perfection 1 hour and 25 minutes after the race started. But for a joggler, perfection takes a back seat to speed. Legs win races, not hands. Fortunately, the wind couldn’t [...]

Clang, bump, clang, bump. And so it went as I slowly descended the three flights of the dark red, metal staircase. Going down stairs hurts the most. With 23 marathons under my belt, it’s not an unfamiliar pain, but it still hurts. I was not looking forward to the obligatory 1 mile [...]

I’m tired so I’ll just post the time.
8:23:42
Beat the old record by almost half an hour. It was a great race and I made it the whole distance without walking and with only 4 drops. The wind off the lake was tough at some points.
More later. Now, I’m going to veg out.
Joggle on.

Went on the last joggling run before tomorrow’s race. I have to keep the joggling streak alive. Unfortunately, I feel sick. I’ve got a headache, sore throat and a bit of a fever. Not good the night before a race. Also, it’s raining. Fates are conspiring.
No matter. I [...]

While I won’t likely be there on Saturday as I anticipate recovering from the morning 50 mile run, be sure to make your way out to the Up For Grabs Juggling festival in Aurora, IL. They’ll have juggling, a public show, games, juggling classes, workshops and even a party.
Here is the schedule. Check [...]

The biggest race of my running season will be tomorrow. It will be my first ultra marathon and hopefully a successful breaking of the current 50-mile joggling record of 8:52:07. It was set in 1989 by the most prolific world record setter in the world, Ashrita Furman.
I’m feeling pretty good about my chances. [...]
