Yesterday was an anniversary of sorts. It marks 4 years of joggling every single day. My minimum joggle during this time has been 1.5 miles but my average is right around 4 miles per day.
Here are some quick stats.
1. Distance = 5578 miles
2. Days = 1462
3. Time = 764 hours, 12 min
4. Average speed = 8:04 min/mile
5. Books read while joggling = 116
6. Weight change = 194lb start, 195lb current
It has been a fun activity and I’m glad I’ve been able to keep joggling for so many days in a row. My first attempt at a streak began with a goal to joggle every day for one year. I went 444 days before finally stopping. This streak was originally supposed to stop after 1001 days. But at some point, the joggling streak became a part of my identity. Now, I don’t think about ever stopping.
As long as I’m healthy, I’m going to keep joggling. I like it. I like having something to motivate me to exercise every day. One of the most challenging things about doing an exercise program is that you lose your motivation. It gets easy to skip a day, then another, then pretty soon you can’t remember the last time you exercised. The best way (at least for me) to ensure that you never get out of the habit is to never stop. It’s really not that difficult if you have the right mindset.
You know that exercising daily is good for your health, so what’s stopping you?
Today is an excellent day to start a streak.
