How To Set A World Record - Part 2

Back in August there was this post on How to Break a World Record. It was a forward looking piece because I had never actually done it. The good news is that all of the steps in there were correct. Unfortunately, step 4 kinda glossed over the paperwork part and the rest [...]

5K Joggling World Record Nearly Broken

Tyler Wishau reports that he nearly broke the 5K joggling record last weekend at a Racine, Wisconsin Jingle Bell Race.  He joggled the race, drop-free, in 17:08.  This is only 13 seconds slower than the current 5K joggling record of 16:55.
It looks like Travis and Michal have got some competition.  I anticipate that one of [...]

Some Recent Obscure World Record for Your Thanksgiving Amusement

Since I’m a chemist I read lots of science stories. And a story about an obscure world record a couple of chemists set, reminded me of a few other interesting records I’ve read and been meaning to pass along. Here they are.
Chemists set chemical bond world record
Chemists from the University of Delaware set [...]

Lakefront 50 miler - joggling epilogue

Last post on this race, I promise.
I just got the results. The winner of this race did it in a blazing 5:31!! That’s around a 6:40 pace which is what I can do in a 5K. Ridiculous. It turns out I finished 16th out of 74 finishers with an “official” time [...]

Joggling the Lakefront 50 Mile Ultra Marathon - Finale

Continued from part 2
Joggling Lap 3
Within the first 2 miles of the third lap, I thought I’d passed the girl in green. Her biking friends were stopped at a bathroom and I just assumed she was in there. But Kikta pointed her out up ahead. Damn, she’s good.
And speaking of good, [...]

Joggling the Lakefront 50 Mile Ultra Marathon - Part 2

Continued from part 1
Joggling Lap 2
Just after lap 2 started, we picked up another bike spotter, John Kelly. He stayed with us the entire way after that. He also witnessed drop number 2 which happened 2:50 into the race. I don’t know why it happened. My right hand was in [...]

Joggling the Lakefront 50 Mile Ultra Marathon - Part 1

For a juggler, perfection is always the goal. No drops, no stops. On Saturday, a gust of wind stymied juggling perfection 1 hour and 25 minutes after the race started. But for a joggler, perfection takes a back seat to speed. Legs win races, not hands. Fortunately, the wind couldn’t [...]

There Is A New Joggling 50-mile Record

I’m tired so I’ll just post the time.
8:23:42
Beat the old record by almost half an hour.  It was a great race and I made it the whole distance without walking and with only 4 drops.  The wind off the lake was tough at some points.
More later.  Now, I’m going to veg out.
Joggle on.

Good Luck Michal!

Michal, the bloggling joggler, is making his attempt to break the world record for joggling a marathon. We just wanted to wish him well. He’s a talented athlete and has an excellent chance of setting a new world record. You can see his latest blog post about the marathon expo here.
Good luck [...]

Juggler Throws Cell Phone To Win Gold

Here’s one for our Jugglers in the News segment. It’s not exactly joggling but it is quirky.
Last weekend, Taco Cohen of the Netherlands won a gold medal at the Cell Phone Throwing World Championships. While he didn’t throw it the farthest (Tommi Huotari did that with a 294 foot throw), he was the [...]
