Fasting Protects Your Brain

by Average Joggler on 02/20/2012

I’m not sure if I’ve previously written about this but once a month I do not eat any food. It’s my monthly fast and I do it because it is supposed be heart healthy. I also like the challenge. If you haven’t tried to not eat anything for 24 hours, you should try it. It’s fun.

Anyway, here is more evidence that there is additional benefits to routine fasting. According to researchers, regular fasting can help prevent brain diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.

So, not only will it help your weight, your heart, fasting will also help your brain. Coupling this with joggling and my brain can certainly last long enough to help me live until 107.

I might give fasting a try again. I used to do it in high school and some in college.
