Is Living to 107 in My Genes?

by Average Joggler on 05/21/2010

This story in the Daily Mail about scientists finding a Methuselah gene has got me worrying that my plan to live until I’m 107 DNAjuggling(November 11, 2076 to be exact) might not be in my control.  According to researchers, lifestyle may have nothing to do with whether you live to 100 or not. It may be more related to whether you have the right genes in your DNA.

Should I give up on my goal?

If longevity really is mostly related to genes and not lifestyle, it seems reasonable to give up on my goal. But I’m not convinced. Even if it were true, I can’t give up on my goal to live until 107. I like having a day picked out which represents my demise. It helps keep me motivated and inspires me not to waste time.

Besides, I want to be the first person to successfully complete a marathon while joggling at the age of 100. I think that would be a record that lasts a long, long time.

I believe I’ll reach my goal of living to 50 long before you reach your goal of living to 107… So there! :-)

How long will your joggling streak be when you do the marathon at 100?

I would love to joggle a marathon as an old man with other jogglers of age. We’ll have to do an over 60 yrs of age joggling marathon record. I know I’ll get bored in retirement, so I look forward to doing that.
