Day 405 of a joggling streak which will last at least 1001 days in a row.
Summary: I had a goal (revised when I decided not to do a 100 miler this year) of joggling 1400 miles this year. According to my running spreadsheet, I was at 1382 miles this morning so I decided to go for a nice 10 miler to knock out a bunch of the miles. Also, I’ve got the 32 mile Frozen Otter coming up in two weeks so doing a longer run is advisable.
Despite the slippery snow on the ground, cold wind, and flurries, it was an enjoyable workout. I joggled east down North Avenue to the lakefront running path, then to the runner’s drinking fountain between Fullerton and Diversey. I saw maybe a half-dozen other runners which is a stark contrast to the scores of people you usually see on a weekend during the summer / fall.
I’ve always found the average winter runner is faster than the average summer/fall runner. I think it’s because only the hard-core runners keep going in the winter. I guess that would qualify me as a hard-core runner even though I’m not that fast. It’s strange to think of myself as a hard-core runner because I never liked running much. In fact, it took me 8 years before I actually liked running.
