Joggler Journal – Running Streak Day 419 First Drop

by Average Joggler on 01/10/2010

Day 419 of a joggling streak which will last at least 1001 days in a row.

Summary: At 1F, today was possibly the coldest day of the joggling streak. I bundled up with 4 layers, 2 sets of gloves, 2 hats, and sunglasses. It was an adventurous run which featured my first drop of the year. There was nothing dramatic about the drop. About 5 minutes into the run, I threw a bean bag from my left hand, it hit my chest, bounced off my right arm and fell to the ground. I said “darn”, picked it up out of the snow and resumed joggling. I was hoping the to go longer but I knew eventually I’d miss. Oh well.

6 days until the Frozen Otter Ultra marathon!

Like the juggling balls. Are those 2.75in Gballz? They look just like my white 3in sportco’s that I juggle with. How do those do for joggling?

They are actually some large bean bags I won from the IJA for World Juggling Day. I’m not sure who makes them. They weigh about 1 lb each and I like to use them on shorter runs to help build arm strength.

For joggling they work pretty well but they wouldn’t be something I’d use in a race. They tire me out much quicker than my trusty, lighter, Gballz.

Brrrr – that makes the 20 degree temps here in VA feel pretty warm. Nice job joggling through it.

Perry, you’re crazy! I won’t run outside if it’s not at least in the mid-20′s, much less joggle. Of course now I have a blister on the bottom of my foot thanks to my training standards, so maybe you know something I don’t.
