Day 372 chronicling a joggling streak which will last at least 1001 days in a row.
Summary: I felt much better today and even pondered going for 2 miles rather than the shorter 1.5 route. But my body really does need some recovery time so even if my spirit doesn’t think so, my mind kept the joggling to the minimum today.
It was a nice cool run. The throbbing pain in my leg muscles wasn’t as bad as yesterday & I barely felt the sting of chaffing.
An Internet friend of mine was a bit concerned that I might be addicted to exercising because I still run when I’m in pain. I don’t think that is the case. To me, muscle pain is ok to run through. Stuff like torn ligaments & broken bones are more problematic. And as far as being addicted, it just doesn’t feel that way. I merely have a goal that I’m trying to achieve. Sometimes that goal will require continuing the streak even when it gets a bit painful. The desire to achieve my goal is what keeps me going.

I was just reading last night in my marathon training book and the author went over the benefits of staying active and running through the soreness to make it go away instead of staying inactive. I am going on a joggling recovery run today-
Keep it going.
@Joe – it’s not a bad idea to do a little joggling but just take it easy. The body does need time to recover.
I’m nowhere near to running marathons, but even with short, hard races, I’ve noticed that recovery runs on the following days are a good idea. I’m convinced that it speeds up recovery.
Perry, What is your take on running with a fever? I usually find that a light run helps with an ordinary cold, but I’m not sure about running if I’ve got a virus resulting in fever.
I would run with a fever because running pretty much helps with any kind of head sickness I might be feeling. Of course, I rarely get sick.
And when I am sick, I certainly don’t run too hard.
