Joggling – Why Should You Do It?

by Average Joggler on 11/08/2010

Here’s is a video my wife took of the 5 minute talk I gave about joggling. This was at the Ignite Chicago event which featured speakers who got 5 minutes to go through 20 slides that automatically changed every 15 seconds. It was a great challenge, but lots of fun!!

I think the audience liked it too.

What do you think?

You did a great job in giving a broad scope of joggling in 5 minutes. You spent a good deal of time on records, but didn’t get too carried away with it I thought. It was funny how they hardly gave a response when you mentioned you just completed your seven hundredth and something day of your joggling streak. They didn’t have time to let that sink in, and you had to rush forward to the next slide, so that would probably explain that. Plus, I’v noticed that people don’t really get that hyped up or can really comprehend how good something is with juggling (say, juggling 7 balls for a certain amount of time, joggling for a marathon, etc.). They are drawn more to the novelty of it and they are trying to take it in, and numbers just aren’t as attractive probably as the novelty of joggling, unless you’re a really expert runner who knows about running records.

Overall, I thought you did well with making it fun, demonstrating it, and teaching it in a super short amount of time. To be able to pull their attention from the novelty or “silliness” of joggling and to make them consider it as a respectable endeavor is the challenging part. But, you’re way of describing the records made it even more funny for them, while increasing the amazing factor of it.

Way to give a shout out to those “Florida Jogglers!” They’re pretty fast… lol

Thanks guys!

That was the first time I ever tried a 5-minute, 20 slide talk and I liked the format. You had to be on your toes.
