Juggling and Running Streak – Day 228

by Average Joggler on 07/03/2009

Day 228 of a quest to joggle at least one mile every day for 1000 days in a row.

Summary: A nice day for joggling despite it being a bit hot. This was the longest run I’ve done since the marathon and it felt ok. For some reason I was tired. There were two notable moments in this workout.

1. While joggling across the intersection of Damen/North Ave/Milwaukee some sweat got on my nose and I felt the urge to get rid of it. So, I throw a bean bag high in the air, wipe my face and catch the bag in stride. After I made the catch, a big crowd of about 15 people that were crossing the street started clapping and cheering. I smiled. I didn’t even realize there were people around. As I ran away and the clapping died down I heard someone yell, “Show off!”

2. I passed the bus 72 at Halsted and North Avenue and the race was on. For the next few minutes the bus would pass me, then I would pass the bus when it got hung up in traffic. But traffic was bad and by the time I reached Ashland Ave, I built up a sizable lead. I pressed on hard the rest of the way home and easily beat bus 72. I felt fast!
