Juggling and Running Streak Day 393

by Average Joggler on 12/15/2009

Day 393 of a joggling streak which will last at least 1001 days in a row.

Summary: The cold weather has returned to Chicago and I love it! Three layers on top, two layers on the bottom and my neck skiinggaiter provided plenty of warmth on this super chilly, sunny day. I did have a drop caused when I threw a Gballz high in the air and missed it when it slipped off my glove. It’s just one of the added challenges to cold weather joggling.

Can I borrow a tad of that cold weather? It’s freakin in the 70′s in my city in FL. Wet, humid, and foggy. Then Cold. Then Hot. It fluctuates so much.

I’m very impressed that you can joggle in all of that gear. Have you ever joggled in Trax? It seems like it could get dangerous in this weather. Extending warm wished for safe and happy joggling….

@Becca – never tried Trax. You put those on your shoes right?

I rarely have problems but I’ve fallen before. (e.g http://justyouraveragejoggler.com/joggling-when-you-fall/) Fortunately, I was so bundled up that the fall didn’t hurt much. You just have to be extra careful and not worry about running too slow.

Perry, how thick are the gloves you’re wearing in this weather? I won’t even run outside in Chicago on days like Tuesday without joggling! I can joggle in thin running gloves without too much extra difficulty (but it’s still harder), but I think I’d have a lot of trouble with anything much thicker. What about visibility?

@George – Over 45 F I don’t wear gloves. Between 35-45F I wear thin running gloves. The kind I have are Underarmour. But under 35F I wear the Underarmour gloves and some thicker Columbia Sportswear gloves which are the same ones I wear when I go skiing.

Joggling in thick gloves takes a little getting used to, but I’ve done it so much that now I don’t even notice and it doesn’t cause any additional drops.

Visibility…I usually joggle during the day. I also stay on the sidewalks & am hyper-vigilant about looking for cars. With all the city street lights I can joggle at night without much trouble.
