Have you heard the running truism that lactic acid builds up in your muscles
and causes soreness?
Well, it turns out, that is just a myth. Lactic acid actually is the fuel that your muscles use to keep going.
This article in the New York Times explains the storied history of Lactic Acid and how scientists erroneously believed it caused pain. They finally figured out it is actually made by converting glucose into lactic acid which the cells use for producing energy.
So what’s a joggler to do with this info?
Not much I guess. I just found it interesting.
But remember, if you want to get fast and run longer, you’ve got to run faster and run longer.

Love your closing quote: …get fast and run longer….
huh… I was always under the impression that lactic acid was a by product of converting fuel to energy. Guess I was wrong. I also thought that muscle tears were the cause of soreness (tiny ones that is).
Well, now you know! I was under the same impression.
