My first fast race since the marathon

Yesterday, I ran my first all-out race since the marathon, the Bucktown 5K. This is a fun race and it is in my neighborhood so I like to run it. They also reportedly have the best goodie bag in town and most years that has been true. This year’s was just ok. They gave a nice pair of socks, some coupons for local businesses, and a decent vest. The thing is, when am I really ever going to wear this vest? If it were a dry-fit running shirt or something that would’ve been cool. But an orange and black vest. hmmm. No matter, it’s nice they give out anything.

As far as the race went, I think I ran pretty good considering that it’s only been 2 weeks since my marathon. I finished the 5K race in 20:34. No drops, no stops. In the joggler category, I was in first place. Overall, I came in 81st out of 2000 plus runners. I believe this time is my third or fourth fastest 5K so I was pretty pleased.

  1. Woww. I just don’t understand how you guys can run that fast while juggling. If I ran that pace my arms would be pumping up and down like crazy. Congrats on the race.

  2. Thanks Arcaner. It is certainly a challenge to do a sub-7 minute mile while joggling but practicing is the key. This year I’ve already logged over 1000 miles joggling.
