Running 250 Marathons for Charity

by Average Joggler on January 3, 2010

Sam Thompson and Dean Karnazes both ran 51 marathons in 51 days a couple years back. Then Brad Alsop did 131 marathons in 131 days. But Martin Parnell is going to raise the bar even higher in 2010.

He will be attempting to run 250 marathons in the year. Most of his runs will be done in Calgary, but he will do a few organized marathons including the Boston Marathon. The goal is to raise money for the charity Right to Play.

Can you imagine running a marathon 5 days a week for the entire year? See his video here.

Wow! That’s going to be exciting to follow. Very impressive.

If he does it, it will be very impressive – but there are people who quietly log those kind of miles. David Horton running the 2700 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail (I’ve hiked bits of it – it’s a tough trail to walk!) in 66 days and of course Terry Fox running a marathon a day with one leg while dying of cancer are the most amazing to me.
