Good race Perry, I enjoyed the write up. It is a fun race, especially with all of our friends and family there plus the huge crowd and free beer! Hopefully I won’t have any cooking accidents next year and I can focus on breaking 50 minutes.

Well done on completing a very fast race on a warm day, Perry. Presumably at a Shamrock Shuffle there must be a more than even chance of spending your beer tickets on Guinness ... even though 50 pints of the black stuff would likely be about 47 too many for me. 'Despite the significant overall pain, I always tried to smile.' What a great line that is. Your post also reminded me that whilst racing, it's always good to pick out a slightly faster runner who overtakes you, to keep them in sight and then to try to overhaul them later, as you did in this race. I remember using that approach to good effect once in the Reading Half Marathon. That race still marks my half marathon PB today, so perhaps I should try the same thing when I run my next race, the Clandon Park 10km on 21st April. That race will be on the day before the London Marathon, and having spent a wonderful spring morning along the South Bank today in perfect sunshine, I just wish I had won a ballot place this year for that London race. Any spare bibs, just drop me a line ... although I know that Clandon will be great. It's a new event, within easy reach of home, and it's hard to do better than that. (Except maybe, just maybe, perhaps, in London).

Amazing that you can juggle and go that fast. It’s funny we were just a minute or so apart on that course. My wife and kids did not mention anything about seeing a joggler, I will ask her tonight if she saw you.

LOL. Well, I think it was only like 8 free beers. It was still a few more than I needed. But I’m going off beer at least for a few weeks. It’s really not great for my training.

Nicely done! You are a speedster. Definitely. and that’s really cool that your entire family was out there with ya. I really like the fact that other folks weren’t using their beer tickets. I might have to come up for that one
