If you ever start to feel that you are taking a long time to complete your
marathon, don’t worry…this guy’s time has you beat by plenty.
During the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden, Japanese marathon runner Shizo Kanakuri disappeared during the race. According to reports he was overcome by heat and stopped at an outdoor party to drink some juice. He stayed for over an hour. He was so ashamed about how long it was taking him that he took a train back to his hotel and sailed home the next day without telling anyone. Swedish officials considered him missing for 50 years.
In 1966, a Swedish television show convinced him to finish his run. He accepted and completed the marathon with an official time of 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 8 hours, 32 minutes and 20.3 seconds. Or in marathon notation…
478952:32:20
So, if you ever feel bad about breaking the 6 hour mark in your marathon, don’t fret. You still finished 478,950 hours faster than Shizo Kanakuri.

Perry, if you started now on that marathon record you would definitely break that record before you turn 107 years old. I think I’ll stick with going for the 50 mile record someday, seems a little less time intensive.
lol.
Even I’m faster than that.
Perry, another record up for grabs.
