World Joggling Championships to be Held on July 14th in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Winston-Salem, North Carolina, May 14th, 2009 –
The 29th annual World Joggling Championships will be held at the Hanes Park track at 1406 Northwest Boulevard in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at 9:00am on Tuesday, July 14th, 2009. The championship is being held as part of the week long International Juggling Association Festival. The festival brings together the best jugglers from around the world for a week of competitions, workshops and shows.

Joggling is a highly skilled sport that combines running and juggling. Joggling requires the competitor to juggle 3 balls or 5 balls while running. The rules require that a juggling pattern must be maintained whilst running, and if an object is dropped, the joggler must return to the point where the object fell and continue from there.

The World Joggling Championships include 9 track events:

100 meter 5 ball
100 meter 3 ball
200 meter 3 ball
400 meter 3 ball
800 meter 3 ball
1600 meter 3 ball
5000 meter 3 ball
4 x 100 meter 3 ball
4 x 400 meter 3 ball

Results from the 2008 championships, held in Lexington, Kentucky, appear below:
5 Ball 100 Meter – Andrew Ruiz 31.6
3 Ball 100 Meter – Jeremy Stanley 14.1
3 Ball 200 Meter – Benjamin Thompson 29.9
3 Ball 400 Meter – Perry Romanowski 1:06
3 Ball 800 Meter – Lenny Ferman 2:23

Not looking forward to July in NC. I’m on the fence, but hopefully I will be there.

Can’t make it, don’t have the money or vacation hours. Would like to make it someday in the future. I’d like to see a long distance competition; 10K, half-marathon, or marathon. That would entice me a little more to come.

I will be at the festival in the evenings, but I won’t be able to see the joggling events. I believe they will be taking place from 9:00 AM – Noon on Monday. I can’t get the time off work.
