The Most Inspiring New York Marathon Story
Today is the коли под наемNew York marathon. Good luck to all the runners and any jogglers that might be doing it too. I haven’t heard from anyone specifically but each year there are 1 or 2 that joggle.
I don’t know the name of the guy in the picture, but he is an IJA member and is said to joggle the New York Marathon often. I joggled that marathon in 2005 and it was great. The weather was pretty hot. The crowds coming in to the last 2 miles were just the most incredible marathon crowds I’d ever seen!
Famous New York Jogglers
Perhaps the most famous New York marathon joggler is Ashrita Furman. He once held the joggling marathon record but it has since been eclipsed by a few people. Michal Kapral currently holds the joggling marathon record. But Ashrita holds a number of world records. In fact, he holds the world record for setting the most world records. Mr. Versatility indeed.
New York Competitive Class
One of the most compelling stories I’ve seen about this year’s New York marathon is this one about Joy Johnson and her quest to break the 6 hour mark. Six hours to run a marathon? Not even joggling? Big deal you might say? Well, some might say. The thing that makes her sub-6 hour time impressive is that she is 81 years old. Running fast is just not a thing that 80+ year olds are supposed to be able to do. I really hope she can get her goal. This kind of story keeps me confident that I’ll be able to keep joggling marathons when I’m in my 80’s and all the way up until my 107th birthday. You know I’m going to live until 107 right?
Have you joggled the New York marathon? Leave a comment and let the joggling community know.
I may take up running when I’m 50 or 60.
