The Joggling Show Must Go On
Clang, bump, clang, bump. And so it went as I slowly descended the three flights of the dark red, metal staircase. Going down stairs hurts the most. With 23 marathons under my belt, it’s not an unfamiliar pain, but it still hurts. I was not looking forward to the obligatory 1 mile of joggling to keep the joggling streak alive.
As I made it to the concrete, I shuffled my feet along the sidewalk. Scrape, scrape, scrape. It doesn’t hurt as much when you shuffle.
Pain is in your brain.
That’s what I kept repeating, trying hard to ignore the sore joints, muscles and pounding headache.1 mile. That’s all I needed.
I hobbled to my usual starting spot, clicked my Polar RS200 and threw the first Gballz joggling bag in the air.
Ouch! A new pain. Not the ankles, knees, or legs. It was my right hand. When the joggling bag fell into it, a sharp sensation shot up from the back of the hand up to my elbow. My first joggling injury.
Pain is in your brain.
Now it’s in my hand. The run (if you can call it that) was a mere 1.3 miles and took 17 minutes to complete. It was slower than every mile run in yesterday’s world record breaking 50-mile joggle.
However, I did it. The joggling streak is still alive. So is the pain. Like I’ve said before, running hurts. Don’t let anyone tell you different. And keeping a running and juggling streak alive REALLY hurts after an ultra marathon.
But remember, if it were easy everyone would be doing it.
Pain is in your brain.
I can imagine it was painful! Nicely done!!
